Puerto Los Cabos Marina Manager
Puerto Los Cabos Marina Manager Enrique Fernandez, affectionately known in Cabo as “Enrique from Sport fishing Defense,” was born in Mexico City and moved to Cabo with his wife and young daughter 22 years ago.
Enrique’s involvement in sport fishing and marina life in Los Cabos dates back to the early days of the Cabo San Lucas Marina, when he was involved with the initial master plan for the project. When the marina was officially completed in October of 1990 he moved to Los Cabos to become the area’s first marina manager.
President of the Mexican Billfish Foundation, Enrique is a great protector of the sea he loves and has dedicated his life to. He works hard to preserve the legal line between sport and commercial fishing regulations and to see that legislation set in place by the Mexican government to preserve the ecological balance of the seas is upheld.
Enrique loves Puerto Los Cabos because “Puerto Los Cabos reminds me of what Cabo San Lucas was like in 1990,” he says. “The marina is beautiful, the docks are in perfect condition and most importantly, we are only six miles from the Gordo Banks, by far the best sport fishing spot in all of Mexico.”
Enrique is enthused about participating in the development of Puerto Los Cabos. “Once we finish the project, I have no doubt that this will be the new place of reference for any Mega project in Mexico.”
