The Sculpture Garden at Puerto Los Cabos
New in Puerto Los Cabos this season is the recently unveiled Sculpture Garden adjacent to the Wirikuta Cactus Botanical Park at the entry to the destination resort. The collection, compiled by art promoter Isaac Masri for developer Eduardo Sanchez Navarro is compiled of sculpture by three of Mexico’s most respected living artists, Jose Luis Cuevas, Manuel Felguerez and Gabriel Macotela.
The works by Jose Luis Cuevas have been exhibited in museums in cities throughout Mexico and have been displayed on Avenida Reforma in Mexico City. 11 sculptures by Gabriel Macotela are being carved on-site from stones weighing up to 45 tons each. Quarried when the boulders comprising the Puerto Los Cabos marina jetties were excavated, the massive rocks have been stored near the Sculpture Garden for years awaiting the artist's arrival.
The collection, together with the installation of bronze sculpture by internationally acclaimed surrealist artist Leonora Carrington on display around the Marina make this one of the most important Sculpture Garden in Mexico and a treasure not to be missed.
